Last Night
It is finished. I have completed my paperwork, checked out at the doctor and made most of my goodbyes. As of 12:00 midnight tonight, I officially cease to be a Peace Corps Volunteer and return to life as a regular American. One thing that is hard to wrap my mind around during this time is the huge distance in space and, and....just almost everything related to my everyday existence, that I will travel in the space of about 20 hours. Making plans for Sunday in Minneapolis kind of requires a mental leap, because my mind doesn't quite believe the fact that I'll be home.
It is late, and I've been running short on sleep for the whole week. I'm gearing up for the jet lag discombobulation, which is sure to be fun. I have the last of my posessions to fit into my luggage, and then nothing more to do but hope the ticket agents are feeling forgiving as I heave my hefty bags onto the scales. Cross your fingers for me please, friends.
I'm saying goodbye to China, an experience that I feel unable to begin to put into words at this time tonight. Just incredible, for lack of anything better to say.
I must be off now. See you soon in the States.
