Eastbound Anew

My laptop recalls my logon information for this old blog, what a relief! I am currently sitting at my desk concluding final business in DC and thought I'd see if I could revive my China communication medium. It is a pleasant surprise to find it so simple. Nice.

So, the basic details - I leave early Monday morning and will arrive in Hong Kong on Tuesday evening, local time. Although I've taken several trips back and forth to China by now, I still struggle to wrap my mind around the time-warp of traveling to Asia. For the first few days of my Hong Kong residency I will live in university housing, as I undergo orientation, track my body temperature (HK health officials are extremely concerned about swine flu transmission from foreign travelers; this is apparently one method of keeping an eye on the teeming masses coming into the country), and look for a place to live for four months.

But before I get to the airport Monday, I have far too many things to do, moving out of my apartment, stashing my worldly goods with my immensely gracious friends in DC. God bless them.

More from me later.
